At SHTUDIO we firmly believe that aesthetics and sustainability go hand in hand. Our aim is to create an economically feasible and sustainable architecture that emphasizes the freedom of living, space, and light, urban and natural surroundings. We highly appreciate all the crafts overlapping with architecture, from masonry to carpentry. Architecture is tangible, and therefore handling the materials is of outstanding importance, something to be approached seriously. Materials make up the building, and the building has to be strong and yet never oppressive.
We believe in good old handmade sketches and models as much as in state-of-the-art 3D tools, including the highest quality 3D rendering. To give an example, this means that we can visualize the faucet of your choice – or whatever else – from all the perspectives and angles, and with all the details. This is the power of the details: just as a single detail can change the character of the building, a single building can influence its surrounding, sometimes the entire neighborhood, or even city.
We believe, to paraphrase Louis Kahn, that architecture is a series of spaces that are good to live in. Simultaneously socially important and very intimate, architecture carries the particular burden of responsibility: whoever designs and builds also defines, in many crucial ways, other people’s lives in a foreseeable future. Which is something that we never lose sight of.
